Federal Tornado Shelters Act

Posted by MHOAI Staff on January 30, 2001 in On Capitol Hill | 1,037 Views

This Act may be cited as the “Tornado Shelters Act.” This has passed the House and is now in the Senate. This act is to amend the Housing and Community Development Act of 1974 to authorized communities to use community development block grant funds for construction of tornado-safe shelters in manufactured home communities (parks).

This would allow construction or improvement of tornado-safe shelters for manufactured housing including loans and grants to non-profit or for-profit entities (including owners of such communities (parks). For more information you can go to Thomas Legislative Information and enter HR 247 in the search box.
