MOBILE HOME PARK FIRE SAFETY
PROBLEM: Many mobile home park owners are not communicating with their local fire departments and often the fire department is unaware that there is a water problem until they pull up to the fire. There is nothing in the current Mobile Home Park Act which spells out what will happen to a mobile home park owner if he does not have this agreement with a local fire department.
SOLUTION: SB 2434 requires this agreement between the mobile home park owner and the local fire chief to be signed by both parties. The bill also requires both the mobile home park owner or his designee and the local fire chief or his designee to certify on the application for a mobile home park license with the Illinois Department of Public Health that this agreement exists and a copy must be posted in public view at the mobile home community. SB 2434 will create an incentive for mobile home park owners to work together with their local fire departments or their state license could be jeopardized.
