Great Turnout for Manufactured Home Owner Day – April 16th

I would like to thank everyone; MHOAI board members, local homeowner associations, and all of the 400 plus homeowners who helped organize and travel to Springfield for a great turn out on our 8th annual Manufactured Homeowners Day. This sunny day brought with it the positive impact that our shared goals wanted to deliver. I heard from many legislators and other entities in Springfield that once again our time and efforts proved to bring our issues to a forefront.

Our goal of meeting and/or leaving material with the 118 state representatives and 59 senators was accomplished. Representative Elaine Nekritz (D-57) announced on the floor that our group was in the gallery. The senate postponed going on the floor that day. However, Senator Michael Noland (D-22) who was going to announce our group on the senate floor, met with homeowners in the senate gallery. The 25 plus homeowners from Calumet City were also able to meet with their senator in the senate gallery. Because the senate did not go on the floor we were able to visit many of the senators in their office.

I want to again thank everyone who was involved in this successful day and look forward to seeing everyone again next year. SB2434 (deals with fire safety in our communities) passed the senate with no nays and is now waiting to be assigned to a house committee. Representative Bob Flider (D-101) has picked up our bill as chief sponsor.

Here are a Few Pictures from the April 16th Trip to Springfield.

Take Care,
