Great Turnout for Manufactured Home Owner Day – April 16th

I would like to thank everyone; MHOAI board members, localhomeowner associations, and all of the 400 plus homeowners who helpedorganize and travel to Springfield for a great turn out on our 8thannual Manufactured Homeowners Day. This sunny day brought with it thepositive impact that our shared goals wanted to deliver. I heard frommany legislators and other entities in Springfield that once again ourtime and efforts proved to bring our issues to a forefront.

Our goal of meeting and/or leaving material with the 118 state representatives and 59 senators was accomplished. Representative Elaine Nekritz (D-57) announced on the floor that our group was in the gallery. The senate postponed going on the floor that day. However, Senator Michael Noland (D-22) whowas going to announce our group on the senate floor, met withhomeowners in the senate gallery. The 25 plus homeowners from CalumetCity were also able to meet with their senator in the senate gallery.Because the senate did not go on the floor we were able to visit manyof the senators in their office.

I want to again thank everyone who was involved in this successful day and look forward to seeing everyone again next year. SB2434, which deals with fire safety in our communities, passed the senate with no nays and is now waiting to be assigned to a house committee. Representative Bob Flider (D-101) has picked up our bill as chief sponsor.

Take Care,
Terry Nelson
