Let legislators know that there are approximately 2,000 manufactured home communities in Illinois which house over 300,000 residents that own the home.

1. Have a main speaker from your group introduce yourselves and ask if the legislator has spoken to anyone from our group already. Be ready with what you want to say.

If yes, ask if they have any questions and touch again with your concerns. Examples: the fear homeowners have regarding managers and landlords, if land is sold for another usage, rents, maintaining the community, ROC’s, etc. Remind them to work with MHOAI and hand them the materials given to you.

If they have not yet met with someone from our group hand them the material we have given you and address your concerns and ask them to work with MHOAI.

2. We need everyone to go to the galleries on the 4th floor when legislators go to the floor. We are hoping our group will be recognized on the floor. We also need to let the legislators see how many of us have attended. We will not know until the morning of this day when the senate and house will go to the floor. If they go at the same time, we will next to split our group in half and go to each gallery.
If your group has yet to meet with a legislator in their office from your district meet with Terry after our group has been recognized on the floor. She will then ask the legislator to come off the floor and meet with you.
3. If a legislator on your list is not in his office leave material. If you are passing an office and you see a legislator at his/her desk ask to see him/her. They do not need to be on your list. The goal is to talk to as many in person as possible. Again, ask if someone from our group has spoken to them.
4. Feel free to spend a few moments in a hearing, it will help you understand a piece of what MHOAI does.
